Group PR 2 Guidelines

Here is the information you need on your second progress report:

What has each group member contributed to the project so far?

What information will you be presenting?  You can put this together in outline form, but it's essentially a rough outline of your final project.  It is subject to change, so you can modify the project beyond this point.

List at least two of the sources that you'll be using in your group project and explain what those sources offer to your presentation.

Note what slideware you'll be using and what each member's role will be in the actual presentation.

25 points.  Due 11/13/2014 before class.

Social Resume Assignment

For this assignment, you will need to create an account with Weebly.

The web-site should be titled with your name and a picture, if available.

On the home page, you'll want an introduction to the site and a brief bio of yourself.

On the About page, you'll want to fill in your work experience, awards, skillset, interests, hobbies, etc.

Contact information should include basic contact info, and you can also link a linkedin, Twitter, Facebook, etc. feed if you want to.

In formatting the site, you may also consider adding sections for any of the following:

Press/media, contact, career highlights, distinctions, bio, blog, case studies, about, skills, experience, credentials, intro, consulting, vision, endorsements, resume, newsletters, news & events, volunteer projects, strengths, social networks, interact, demo real, art portfolio, sample projects, personal information, professional information, wiki, speaking events, awards, profile, photos, videos, associations, clubs, technical competencies.

This assignment is due Thursday, November 13, before class.  Post a link to your completed social resume to your blog.

Blog Assignment 7: Privacy Scavenger Hunt

Visit the web-sites in the class blogroll (the one on the right side of this blog.)

Find three articles pertaining to privacy.  Provide brief, 2-3 sentence summaries of the article that include the privacy problem that the article is presenting.  The provide a sentence or two including your own analysis of the problem.  

Complete before class starts on November 4.  

Blog Assignment 6: Privacy

Find FOUR online services to which you belong (these can include any message board/blog sites/e-mail), in addition to what you may traditionally think of as SMS).

Find out what your privacy settings are, and what the options for your privacy settings are.

Summarize these, by service, in ONE blog post.

Briefly discuss (5-7 sentences) the differences in the settings.  In your opinion, which has the "best" privacy settings?  The worst?  How secure do you feel using these services?

Blog Assignment 5: Project Gutenberg & Creative Commons

Visit gutenberg.org and search.creativecommons.org.  Read about the sites and their mission statements.

Post 3 images from Creative Commons related to communication technology (i.e., the Internet, telegraph, telephone, television, mobile, etc.)

Link to 3 different books.  For each book, give a brief description of the formats, i.e., HTML, Kindle, Nook, etc.  Write down the format and explain what kind of devices it can be read on.  At least one should be a book you've read (or been assigned to read, you slacker) in a course at some point during your grade school or college careers.

Blog Assignment 4

Blog  update!  Go through the blogroll you created earlier in the semester of news/culture/technology blogs and give a summary of what you've been reading on those sites.  In a single blog post that is one to two paragraphs (4-7 sentences each), summarize two to four articles or themes found in the blogs.

If you still don't have a blogroll, that's going to set you back here, but you'll still need to finish this assignment by Tuesday, October 7. Thursday, October 9.
